Thought about a change of direction?

My thoughts are that as a people/process manager perhaps I have the skills and industry experience which would translate well into many other roles.
Personally I am having little success achieving my goal of returning to full-time employment in my normal role, so I have to consider whether to change my goal.  Luckily my situation is one where I am not dependant on a large salary, therefore I can consider roles which may not have been an option in the past.

This is a massive opportunity for me albeit a little daunting.  I need to determine whether to take the opportunity or to continue relying on my CV in order to secure my next role in food manufacturing.  Perhaps a change of career is the answer, but primarily I need to identify which roles would be suitable to my experience, my skills, and my personality. This will probably prove more difficult than I imagine as I do not have the knowledge of other areas so cannot assume that I would be an ideal fit.  I am more than happy to start at the bottom, but are there companies in this day and age prepared to take on a 46-year-old trainee?
First thoughts are areas such as Sales, Marketing, Recruitment, Training or a customer service type environment are suitable considerations.  As a matter of personal interest I will do some research on the job functions already mentioned, and attempt to identify other areas which I would be happy to consider as a complete change of career.  Obviously I require a future, with opportunity to progress otherwise I may as well get a paper round.  Once I believe I have discovered some suitable roles and modified my CV accordingly to emphasise my maturity and professionalism rather than my specific technical abilities, I will complete the application process and look forward to any feedback I may receive…..Watch this space.

Great News, Good Result

Just had a call from the “Blue Chip” who shall remain nameless, informing me of my psychometric test results.

Verbal Reasoning = ABOVE AVERAGE,

Numerical Reasoning = ABOVE AVERAGE,

Logical Reasoning = AVERAGE.

This means I have met the required standard and therefore been recommended for an on-site interview. Still no position available currently however they explained that I would continue through the selection process regardless as there are positions becoming available regularly.  Before taking the tests mentioned I made sure that I had brushed up with some practice.  I remember that in my younger days I had been quite successful in these types of test however I had not attempted one in quite a while.  If taking some practice tests is something that interests you I recommend the following links. http://www.shl.com/TryATest/TakeaTest/Pages/TakeaTest-English.aspx
Also with many more practice tests in downloadable PDF format try this link. http://www.psychometric-success.com/downloads/download-practice-tests.htm
It is known that Over 95% of the candidates who fail these tests did not do enough practice – Don’t be one of them!
